It’s surprising it took so long to bring Gmail-Drive integration to Android, especially since it came to the web a full six months ago. Smartphones tablets have far less space for downloading attachments than s do—Chromebooks excepted—so the ability to save space by offloading large documents or photos to Drive will be a boon for anyone who manages most of their email on the go. To save at attachment to Drive in Gmail for Android, open a message scroll down until you get to the attachment icon. Tap the menu option (the three vertical squares) on the attachment select Save to Drive. In addition to the new Drive integration, the new version of Gmail also adds explanatory notes to messages marked as spam, just in case you wanted to know why certain messages were tagged as junk. says the new version of Gmail for Android also offers faster access to the side navigation menu improved support for left-to-right languages such as Arabic Hebrew.
